The Cisco Store has long been an important partner to the Cisco Meraki team. The store has provided the perfect environment for our teams to work together to test new technologies, gather feedback, and continuously improve the cloud managed Meraki products.
Throughout the Cisco store, we have deployed both Meraki cameras and a Meraki network. We have also been able to integrate Meraki with other partner technologies deployed throughout the store, such as the RFID tagging system for the smart fitting room. With Meraki, we are able to secure the store with smart cameras and gather data and insights from the video footage they gather.

On this week’s episode of Tech Tuesday, we are exploring one of the many features of the Meraki dashboard, displayed on the Cisco Store’s Webex board. Brian demonstrates to the audience how he can use Meraki Motion Search to analyze behaviors within a specific area of the store. Motion Search is a feature that provides composite motion recap images that summarize activity within a single frame. With Motion Search, Brian analyzes motion within the store, and then tracks the path of that person throughout the store.
Rather than playing back minutes of video, the motion recap images provide a quicker method for viewing actions over a course of time in just a single glance. This helps to observe shopping behavior, such as where shoppers linger in the store and how they interact with certain displays. Using this information, retailers can test different merchandising strategies and displays. Additionally, Motion Search assists with store security. When a particular incident or situation occurs, instead of combing through hours of video footage, users can view the entire event in just a single frame, cutting down the amount of time spent investigating incidents.
