The Opal Digital globe is the first ever 360-degree virtual reality display. Meant to entertain, engage, and inform, OPAL helps to create an immersive virtual reality experience for customers at the Connected Cisco Store- no headset required. On this episode of Tech Tuesday, our tech expert Brian Domine will show off the OPAL in the store, and give the audience insight into how and why we deploy this technology.
Watch the video!
The vibrant OPAL, located in the front of the store, has an engaging and interacting surface, and can play back any spherical content in high-definition resolution. As Brian explains during the episode, the OPAL’s presence instantly attracts viewers into the store from the neighboring café. They then have the opportunity to immerse themselves into the Save the Rhinos brand campaign video displayed on the OPAL, and learn how Cisco deployed technology in Africa to help keep rhinos safe. With the OPAL, we are able to create a shared experience, and transform virtual reality from a one to one, to a one to many experience.
In addition to entertainment, the OPAL can actually help provide location-based analytics, and assist us with marketing and advertising in the store. This helps us to drive calls to action effectively, and measure both engagement and efficacy. OPAL can be used for a variety of use cases, including education, gaming, social networking, and events. OPALS can be found deployed in malls, museums, airports and studios, bringing virtual reality to people all around the world. Learn more about OPAL here.
